Chevrolet Colorado Car Insurance
There are drivers out there who appreciate the usefulness of a pickup truck, but maybe don’t want to drive around a big, hulking behemoth of a vehicle every time they leave the house.
For those drivers, there’s the Chevy Colorado. And if you’re here right now, it probably means that you already own one, or you’re thinking about buying one.
Regardless, you need an affordable insurance policy to protect that investment. And we can show you how to find one.
A Brief History of the Chevrolet Colorado
The Chevy Colorado has actually been in production since 2003, but Chevy took a break from the model between the Years 2012 and 2014.
It’s a mid-size pickup truck, which means that it comes with the utility of a pickup but without all the difficulty of driving around in an excessively large, hard-to-maneuver, full-size pickup truck.
Furthermore, it has almost twice the fuel economy of its larger sister model, the Chevy Silverado; if you do a ton of highway driving, the Silverado may top out at 22 MPG, while the Colorado easily achieves that on city roads and can get up to 30 mpg or more if most of its miles are driven on the highway.
The most recent generation of the Chevy Colorado comes with a 2.5 L Duramax turbo engine capable of 180 horsepower and 324 pounds of torque.
The brief production break between 2012 and 2014 can be linked to the fact that in 2012, the Chevy Colorado sold a whole 100,000 units fewer than its debut year in 2004.
However, its 2015 come back saw sales figures once again rise to the six-figure digits. 2017 sales were its highest ever, with over 145,000 sold.
Chevrolet Colorado in the News
According to most car review experts, the Chevy Colorado has been performing very well in recent years against competition like the Ford F-150 Raptor, the Ford Ranger, the Ram Rebel, and the GMC Sierra AT4.
But all of this wild success still isn’t enough for Chevrolet and GMC. They have recently trademarked a new name for the Chevy Colorado, with future models soon to be referred to as the “ZR2 Bison”.
So far, all we know about future changes to the Chevy Colorado is the name; time will tell whether or not the Bison will outperform previous models.

The good thing about midsize pickup trucks is that you can pretty much drive them anywhere.
Whether you’re off road, driving through the countryside, or motoring around in a big city, you can take a pickup like the Chevy Colorado pretty much everywhere. Unfortunately, some areas are more expensive to purchase car insurance than others.

Compare Quotes From Top Companies and Save
Aside from where you live, the insurance company you choose could be charging you twice as much as a reputable provider a few miles down the road.
There are many different reasons why insurance companies have different ways of evaluating risk from one driver to another. Some companies may want to insure safe drivers, while others are trying to make profit offering policies to high-risk drivers that nobody else will ensure.
Other insurers may think that men are riskier drivers than women, and charge them more, while their biggest competition may charge no difference whatsoever based on sex.
The best thing to do is to make sure you check with at least a few different providers before you decide on an insurance company.
If you’re a parent trying to find a good starter vehicle for your (soon-to-be) teenage driver, it’s no surprise you might be looking at a Chevy Colorado. It has a sturdy construction which will help keep them safe in the event of an accident.
It’s also relatively affordable, which will help bring down the monthly insurance premiums a bit.
Unfortunately, due to a lack of driving experience and statistically higher rates of accidents compared to older drivers, getting an insurance policy for your teenage driver will cost a pretty penny.
You can save a bit of money by making sure they get good grades, take a driver’s education course, and even by bundling them onto a single, family policy with you and anyone else who lives in your household.
Regardless, you should still brace yourself for a higher insurance premium payment.
As a matter of fact, some companies consider teenage drivers to be so risky (as you can see in the chart below) that they don’t offer insurance policies at all to drivers until they reach a certain age and level of experience.
No matter your personal circumstances or your reasons for looking for a cheaper Chevy colorado car insurance payment, you should still do your homework and make sure you find the best rate possible.
