Lincoln MKZ: Ratings & Reviews

The 2012 MKZ is a solid choice in its class, but unfortunately there are a lot of other cars in the luxury segment which surpass it for the price at which it is offered. It is a comfortable car, and contains a lot of tech features. It is provides an ordinary driving experience more consistent with being serene and comfortable than fast-paced and spirited. Fuel economy can be improved upon by opting for the hybrid version of this car.

However, it doesn’t look or feel refined enough to call it a luxury car. The price tag seems out of place. It has adequate acceleration with its V6, and can be decked out with several features by upgrading to other packages.

Standard on all models is a wide array of features including: keyless entry (with outside keypad) & ignition, foglights, automatic climate control, rear parking sensors, heated front seats, leather upholstery, and a 9-speaker stereo with six-CD changer, USB and satellite radio.

Lincoln MKZ: Associated Insurance Costs

Luxury cars are typically expensive to insure; however, there are ways to lower your premium. Take a look at your current insurance policy; do you need everything on there? Consider lowering certain levels of coverage for monthly savings.

For example, if you’ve been accident-free for several years and are a safe driver, you may consider raising the deductible on your collision coverage. This will net you instant savings on your monthly premium, though you’ll be responsible for more costs up front in the event of an accident.

Perhaps the most important factor to consider is when you’re actually shopping around for an insurance company. Do your research. Get quotes from at least 3 different insurers so that you can compare. Remember, while one insurer might not offer a given discount or incentive, another might!

Lincoln MKZ: Safety Ratings

The 2012 MKZ has been recognized as a Top Safety Pick by the IIHS. In order to receive this title, a car must get the top score of “Good” on all crash tests from the IIHS. The NHTSA has also rated this car, and given it an overall rating of 4/5 stars. On individual crash tests, it scored the following:

  • Front Crash Tests: 3 stars
  • Side Impact: 4 stars
  • Rollover tests: 4/5 stars

These are important because the safer your car is considered, the lower your insurance premium is likely to be.
