A Brief History of the Dodge Magnum

The Dodge Magnum is the name given to three very different vehicle models (depending on which country you’re talking about).

Obviously, for the purposes of this article, we’ll focus on the American version: the station wagon with rear-wheel drive which started selling in 2005.

For better or worse, this vehicle was only in production for four years. The last available model for the Dodge Magnum was sold in 2008.

Regardless, there are still thousands of Magnums on the road today. Fun fact: the station wagon version of the Dodge Magnum has a lot in common with its sedan sibling, the Chrysler 300.

Both Chrysler and Dodge are owned by the same parent company, so this isn’t entirely surprising.

Dodge Magnum in the News

Criticize the Dodge Magnum all you want, but when it first debuted, it easily made Car and Driver’s top 10 list in 2005.

Unfortunately, as sales slowly declined over the next few years, Chrysler decided to nix production of the Dodge Magnum – along with the crossfire, the PT Cruiser convertible, and the Pacifica – because the company did not believe the vehicles’ sales numbers were enough to “earn their keep”.

Translation: selling anywhere from 30,000 to 52,000 units a year fails to live up to Chrysler’s high standards.

In many cases, the state in which you live will carry much more weight when your insurance company is deciding how much they want to charge you.

Some will even break it all the way down to the city where you live and the demographics of your area. Do you live in a community where there are an inordinate number of risky drivers?

Elderly people and teenagers are considered to be some of the most dangerous motorists on the road. Disproportionately high numbers of either group who live in your zip code may raise your insurance rates.

Then again, the type of vehicle you drive may be considered more or less risky depending on the opinion of the insurance company you purchased coverage from.

Or there could be other circumstances going on in your life which your insurance company will evaluate before they even stop to think about what type of vehicle you are driving.

Since different providers will evaluate risk in their own unique way, it can be difficult to predict which company will give you a fair price on your Dodge Magnum car insurance.

One of the things you should definitely know about yourself before you start shopping around for a new car insurance policy is your credit score.

The more you know about your credit standing, the easier it will be to develop a score that will get you the best possible insurance rate.

If you don’t have a perfect score right now, the good news is that you can change it overtime with a little effort and patience. And if you have a good score already, you can use that to your advantage and get lower rates right from the start.
