A Brief History of the Dodge Durango

Production of the Dodge Durango has had a scattered history since its inaugural production year in 1998. This is mostly due to the fact that it’s parent company switched names and ownership a few different times over the past 20 years.

Noted versions of the Dodge Durango were produced by Chrysler Corporation, Damian Chrysler, Chrysler LLC, Chrysler Group LLC, and the final iteration of the company (for now, at least) Fiat Chrysler Automobiles US.

The vehicle is currently in its third generation of production, with unique updates like a sporty exterior, 8-speed transmission, and reworked tail lights.

Dodge Durango in the News

Over the Durango’s 20 year history, the model has sold over 1.5 million units. While this total includes Canadian sales, the vast majority of units sold were sold to US consumers. Unfortunately, the Durango has been through some recalls during his production history.

The first recall back in 2012 applied to over 1,600 Dodge Durangos which had faulty air bags. There was another recall during the summer of 2015 which applied to both 2014 and 2015 Dodge Durango models.

Unlike the 2012 recall, this didn’t necessarily have to do with driver or passenger physical safety. software Engineers discovered that the vehicle could be remotely accessed thanks to a software glitch.

Comparing Dodge Durango Auto Insurance Coverage

How much is insurance on a Dodge Durango?

There are all sorts of different factors which can either raise or lower your monthly premium – and many of them revolve around your specific location.

It can be something as big as which state you live in, even down to something as small and specific as your zip code. Other circumstances, such as property values, crime rates, and road hazards in your immediate area can also have a significant influence on your monthly insurance payment.

That being said, even the insurance companies near you won’t necessarily offer the same price from one driver to the next. Shopping around is a great way to figure out which insurance company you should purchase a policy from.

At the same time, though, this can be a very difficult process. Most companies ask you for a lot of personal information that you may not feel comfortable divulging you when you aren’t yet sure you’re going to do business with them.

They also ask a lot of questions, and going through that rigmarole multiple times with different providers can be extremely taxing.

Are you ruling the road in an older Durango, or did you recently buy a brand new, shiny model right off the showroom floor? The truth is that the younger your vehicle is, the more likely it is that you will need to buy extra forms of coverage in order to protect it properly.

With a newer vehicle, some drivers will want to lower their deductible so that they don’t have to shoulder such a large burden for expensive repairs.

Furthermore, you’re going to want to make sure you buy optional packages such as gap coverage so that you don’t end up upside down on your car loan or your lease in the event of a total loss accident.

With older vehicles, on the other hand, you can afford to raise your deductible since your repair costs will likely be much cheaper. And you won’t have to purchase gap coverage or anything like it, which will lower your monthly premiums automatically.
