A Brief History of the Chevrolet Trax

The Chevy Trax is Chevrolet’s attempt to throw their hat into the subcompact crossover SUV ring. This particular model has been available since 2013 and shares a similar platform style to the Chevy Sonic and the Buick Encore.

It comes equipped with an i4 engine ranging anywhere from 1.4 to 1.7 L depending on trim. It recently received a facelift in 2017 which included halogen projector headlamps, dual tail lamps, LED daytime running lights, and a redesigned grill.

Changes were also made to the center instrument panel, dashboard, and motorists who opted for premier model trim can get a set of 18-inch aluminum wheels on their vehicle.

Chevrolet Trax in the News

Recently, US News pitted the Chevy Trax against its sister model, the Buick Encore. In terms of price and seat comfort, the Chevy Trax won out easily. The two vehicles tied with regard to cargo space and safety features.

But the more expensive winner, the Buick Encore, bested the Chevy Trax in terms of fuel economy, ride comfort, and acceleration, among other metrics. Despite all of this, it has not slowed the momentum of the Chevy Trax.

Part of the recent 11.5 percent jump in Chevrolet’s annual sales can be traced back to the Chevy Trax. It had a 26.3 percent rise, represented by 8,207 units sold in March alone.

Experts are speculating that this is one of the strongest performance months ever for the vehicle.

Comparing Chevrolet Trax Auto Insurance Coverage

Whether for better or worse, insurance prices are not uniform across the entire country.

Each state has their own unique laws with regard to how insurance companies – auto insurance companies included – are allowed to operate. For some companies, this gives them the wiggle room to charge you as much as they possibly can get away with legally.

In other states, the laws may afford you some consumer protections which will help lower your overall insurance rate. You can see a good example of this in the chart below.

Even if you drive in a fairly inexpensive state, you still may have to pay an unusually higher premium due to certain risk factors. What are these risk factors, you ask? Well, that all depends on the opinion of your insurance provider.

Not all companies evaluate risk the same way, and certain things, like your credit score or your driving history, may carry more weight than others.

You’ll have to sit down and have a chat with your insurance agent to find out which, if any, of your risk factors are raising your monthly premium, and what sort of strategy you can come up with to reduce those risks in order to lower your rates.

Speaking of your driving history, we’re pretty sure that this comes as no surprise to most, but safer drivers with a clean record get substantially lower auto insurance quotes than people with recent accidents or tickets in their history.

Insurance companies, whether correctly or not, assume that if you have a checkered driving past, you are more likely to repeat those same mistakes in the future.

And if you do, it could end up costing your insurance provider a pretty penny when they have to pay out on your claims.

Basically, anything you do that makes your provider nervous that you may file expensive claims which they need to pay out will result in a higher monthly insurance premium.
