Back in 1989, the United Automobile Insurance Company (UAIC) was founded in order to provide high quality non-standard insurance at low costs to Miami drivers. The company soon became profitable enough to offer non-standard insurance policies in the states of Illinois and Florida. Today, their business has expanded to a dozen different states within the union as they strive to become the premier player in the non-standard insurance market.

United Automobile Insurance Review

Before you invest in a company, especially an insurance company, you should take a good hard look at their reviews. Customer service reviews can help you decide which company will be there when you need them, while financial strength reviews can help consumers feel confident that any claims they file will be paid out. As recently as November 2016, UAIC’s financial strength rating with AM Best changed from a “C” to “NR (no rating)”. In the past, their customer satisfaction has been far less than ideal. Although it appears as through things may be improving in customer satisfaction, they still only have a 3.68 composite customer satisfaction score from the BBB.

United Automobile Insurance Discounts

While it’s true that most available discounts will vary by state, most companies at least try to publish some sort of data on the discounts you could be eligible for. Unfortunately, all information on available discounts for UAIC are exclusively available to their independent insurance agents. In order to know what discounts are offered in your area, as well as how much they could help you save, you’ll have to contact your local UAIC agent directly.

United Automobile Auto Insurance Options

One would assume that, if you request an insurance policy from UAIC, it will contain at least the types and amounts of coverage you need to drive legally in your state. Under most circumstances, this includes Property Damage and Bodily Injury Liability coverage. No-fault states will also require Personal Injury Protection or something similar. Also, non-standard insurance policies sometimes include SR-22 insurance. To know which specific coverages UAIC offers, however, you’re going to have to get in touch with an agent near you.

Comparing United Automobile Insurance Quotes

Comparison shopping is essential when it comes to finding the right car insurance policy to meet your needs. Below, we have quotes from several popular companies, compared to the national average, in some of the most densely-populated driving areas:

Auto Insurance Quote Comparison Legend: Allstate State Farm Mercury Average Rate Illinois Average California Average Texas Average Florida Average New York Average 50 100 150 200 250 300 350 $52 $34 $89 $34 $146 $139 $88 $64 $71 $89 $260 $105 $147 $230 $353 $126 $72 $93 $231 $93

Odds are that if you want a quote of your own from UAIC, you’re going to have to call an agent or perhaps even show up at a local office. If you decide to get one, make sure you compare it to the data about what you should be paying for monthly premiums and compare it to what UAIC is willing to offer you.

Pros and Cons of United Automobile Insurance

Offers non-standard insurance in 12 different statesDifficult to get quotes online
In some markets, UAIC might be competitively priced for non-standard (or “high risk”) driversTheir website content only contains helpful information for those who want to become a UAIC insurance agent

From their troubled history with customer service satisfaction to their historically low financial strength ratings, there are some things about United Automobile Insurance. However, they are a non-standard insurance provider; for drivers who are in need of non-standard insurance, UAIC may be one of only a few or perhaps even the only non-standard provider near you. If this is the case, then you may have no choice but to at least request a quote from them. Just make sure you get other fast, free quotes from the internet so that you can put their quoted price in context.
