Jeep Patriot: Getting Insured
The Patriot is one of the SUVs in Jeep’s lineup. Starting at just under $16,000, the car is very attractively priced. However, as a buyer in the market for a car, you should take into consideration the costs of owning a given car. Specifically, look for things such as fuel economy, insurance costs, or average repair costs. Sometimes an attractive sticker price isn’t everything. Jeep Patriot: Ratings & Reviews
The Patriot is a solid choice, as it provides a quiet and serene drive. When driven normally on road, it is an excellent car capable of handling just about anything. Standard on most models is a 2.0 liter 4 cylinder engine, while an optional 2.4 liter 4 cylinder engine is available for those that need a little extra acceleration. The 2.4 liter engine usually comes standard with all-wheel drive.
This is the entry-level Jeep, and it won’t disappoint if you use it to go on light off-road adventures. However, beware, the 2.4 liter engine will struggle if you abuse of it too much. If you plan to use this car for regular off-road travel, you might want to consider adding the “Freedom Drive II Off-Road Group” package. This adds all-terrain tires, hill start and descent control, and a variety of other features to help you out.
All in all it is a solid choice, though beware the automatic transmission as it makes the car perform sluggishly at best.

Jeep Patriot: Insurance Costs
On average, drivers can expect to pay around $1100 annually for the Patriot. How can we bring this number down, and save you some money?
The first thing you might want to do is look at your insurance policy. Is there any kind of coverage you have too much of or don’t need anymore? Your policy should be kept current with your needs. Perhaps you haven’t been in an accident in a couple of years. It might make sense to raise the deductible on your collision and comprehensive coverage, then. Sure, you will be responsible for more money up front, but you’ll definitely see monthly savings.
As always, driving history is a big determinant of your premium. It is directly related to your responsibility behind the wheel. If you have a clean record, it means you’re responsible, and therefore less risk to the insurer. You’ll see lower premiums, and vice versa.
Jeep Patriot: Safety Ratings
Safety ratings can oftentimes help lower your rates. Though the 2012 Jeep Patriot hasn’t yet been crash tested by the federal government, it has been by the IIHS. They give this car recognition as a “Top Safety Pick”. Cars can get this kind of recognition if they score the top grade of “good” on all crash tests (Front, side, rear and roof).
